Terms of Use

Effective: April 27, 2026 · End User License Agreement (EULA)

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Pet Health Book iOS application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. License Grant

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. This license does not allow you to distribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the App.

3. Medical Disclaimer

The App is designed as a personal organization and record-keeping tool for pet health information. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

• Always consult a licensed veterinarian regarding your pet's health.
• Do not disregard professional veterinary advice based on information provided by or stored in the App.
• In a medical emergency, contact an emergency veterinary clinic immediately.

4. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases

Payment & Billing

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at the time of purchase confirmation.
• Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same rate.
• For the Lifetime purchase, payment is a one-time charge. There are no recurring charges and access does not expire.
• Prices may vary by region and are displayed in your local currency within the App.

Free Trial

If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of the trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Managing & Canceling

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple Account:

• Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or
• Visit apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods. Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policies.

5. AI Health Advisor Terms

The AI Health Advisor feature uses artificial intelligence to provide general pet health education information. By using this feature, you acknowledge:

• AI responses are for educational purposes only and do not constitute veterinary medical advice.
• You should never rely solely on AI responses for medical decisions.
• AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated.
• A filtered pet health summary is sent to the AI provider (see our Privacy Policy for details).
• AI Health Advisor usage limits are displayed within the App.
• We reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue this feature at any time.

6. Public Emergency QR Links

The App can generate an offline emergency QR code and, if you choose to enable it, publish a public emergency web link. Anyone with that QR code or link may view the selected emergency details, such as pet name, species, breed, microchip ID, allergies, medical alerts, veterinarian contact, and insurance provider.

• Public emergency links are optional and disabled until you enable them.
• You are responsible for deciding which information is appropriate to share.
• You can disable the public link from inside the App.
• Do not publish information you consider sensitive unless emergency access is worth that tradeoff.

7. Account & Authentication

Pro subscribers may use Sign in with Apple to create a persistent account that enables cloud data synchronization and restoration across app reinstalls and devices.

• Without signing in, the App uses an anonymous session. Data synced anonymously cannot be recovered if you reinstall the app.
• Sign in with Apple links your anonymous session to your Apple ID, preserving your data.
• We do not access your Apple ID password, email address (unless you choose to share it), or other personal Apple account information.
• You may sign out at any time. Signing out does not delete your cloud data.

Data Restoration

Pro subscribers who have signed in with Apple can restore their pet data from the cloud after reinstalling the app (Settings → Cloud Sync → Restore from Cloud). Only data not already present on the device will be downloaded.

Account & Data Deletion

You may permanently delete all cloud-stored data and your Firebase account from within the App (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account & Data). This action:

• Deletes all pet records, images, documents, and subcollections from Firestore
• Deletes all uploaded files from Firebase Storage
• Deletes all published emergency cards
• Removes your Firebase Authentication account
• Does NOT delete local data on your device — you retain your data locally
• This action is irreversible. You must type "DELETE" to confirm.

7. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the App lawfully and in accordance with these Terms.
• Enter accurate and up-to-date pet health information.
• Verify health information with a qualified veterinarian before acting on any medical decision.
• Keep your device and App access secure.
• Not use the AI Health Advisor for topics unrelated to pet health.
• Comply with all applicable laws regarding pet ownership in your jurisdiction.

8. Image Compression

The App automatically compresses images to WebP format (up to 5 MB per file) to reduce storage use. You are responsible for keeping original copies of important images outside the App if full resolution is required.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, features, and code are owned by Pet Health Book and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You retain full ownership of the data you enter. We claim no ownership over your pet health records, photos, or documents.

11. Third-Party Services

The App may connect to third-party services when cloud sync or AI features are enabled. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms:

• Apple StoreKit — subscription payments
• Sign in with Apple — account authentication (Pro)
• Firebase (Google) — cloud sync, Remote Config, data restoration
• Google Gemini / OpenAI / Anthropic — AI Health Advisor

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party service providers.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pet Health Book and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the App.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for Pro access in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $5.00 USD, whichever is greater.

12. Warranty Disclaimer

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Vietnam, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

17. EULA

These Terms act as the app's custom End User License Agreement. Where applicable, Apple's Standard EULA is also available at Apple Legal.
